Welcome to Shops & Establishments

One of the important functions of Labour Commissionerate under the Department of Labour, Govt. of West Bengal, is to implement the West Bengal Shops & Establishments Act, 1963 along with the Rules framed there under in the notified areas of the State of West Bengal. The Act has provisions for compulsory registration of all Shops & Establishments, issuance of appointment letters to the employees, regular payment of wages to the employees along with statutory leave, holidays, and specific working hours, prescribed opening and closing hours of the Shops & Establishments, and recovery of unpaid or illegally deducted wages.

Shop keepers / employers of shops / establishments, as the case may be, located at through the district of West Bengal area can apply for online registration of their shops or establishments, incorporation of changes, application for winding up, uploading of legacy data etc. through this portal. The processing, online tracking, delivery of Registration certificate etc of the application will also be done through this portal. more

Guidelines for Registration, Changes etc.

Name of shop/establishment, postal address and exact location of shop/establishment, nature of business etc should match with trade license and also with memorandum of understanding, article of association, partnership deed (as applicable).

Online User Manual For Applicants

A comprehensive user guide to apply for online registration of their shops or establishments, incorporation of changes, application for winding up, uploading of legacy data etc. through this portal. It is a technical communication document intended to give assistance to General User as a guidebook.

Exempted Shops and Establishments

Important Notifications regarding exemption to certain shops/ establishments from operation from various provisions of West Bengal Shops and Establishments Act, 1963 and Rules framed there under.
